Position:

In deep, wide bay flanked by pine forests.

Description:

Looking W from the beach to the pine-covered bay, the hotels are on the right-hand side. There are apartment blocks with various bars and shops beneath on the left-hand side. There is an untidy area immediately behind the beach.

Suitability:

Middle- to economy-market families and couples; the exception is the Hotel Hacienda (5-star), which is decidedly upmarket. Too isolated for singles _ not enough activity.

Accommodation:

The San Miguel Resort, comprising 3 hotels (Galeon, Cartago and San Miguel Beach Club), operates as a single complex. Otherwise half a dozen self-catering apartment blocks.

Shopping:

A few small supermarkets and souvenir shops only. Car hire available.

Beach:

Very fine shingle that could almost pass for sand.

Entertainments:

Mainly confined to that put on by hotels. Only one disco in resort.

Eating:

Modest restaurants and bars of various kinds in village. Gourmet restaurant 2 miles in Hotel Hacienda.

Public-transport:

Bus service to and from Ibiza town 4 times daily.

Local-excursions:

Island coach tour, boat trips to other resorts, Country Feast (Polynesian meal), Hillbilly Hoedown (Wild West Evening), glass-bottom boats, hippie market at Es Cana, visit to casino with show, Aguamar Splashdown (water park visit); best caves on island within walking distance.
