TALAMANCA
Area: Ibiza
Country: Spain

Location:

On the E coast, about 2 miles NE of Ibiza town. 6 miles from the airport.

Telephone code from UK:

34

Description:

A small resort in two distinct sections separated by a mile-long stretch of beach. Numerous half-built properties and acres of scrubland give the resort a somewhat washed-out, unfinished look in places, with little aesthetic appeal. At the far end is a small residential area, but this is virtually cut off from Ibiza town as far as transport is concerned and has the poorest possible beaches. The marina/harbour is the most attractive part.

Suitability:

Couples, families with children and anyone looking for a base handy for Ibiza town but with a beach. Those seeking non-stop, hedonistic nightlife should stick to San Antonio.

Accommodation:

Ranging from 4-star hotels to simple room-only hostels.

Shopping:

Nothing outstanding. A few local shops selling everyday provisions. Much larger and more upmarket selection in Ibiza town

Beach:

The main stretch of beach between the two sections of the resort is predominantly sand, but covered in weed; the sand all but completely disappears at the N end. The best bathing is from the small beaches close to the ferry.

Entertainments:

Daytime: limited beach. Nightlife: the casino is nearby, on the road to Ibiza town.

Eating:

A few bars and restaurants catering for all tastes, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Public-transport:

A ferry crosses every half-hour to Ibiza port _ a 10-minute journey. A bus service runs round the harbour.

Local-excursions:

As Figueretas.
