Position:

On a W-facing coast, on mainly level ground. A pine-fringed cove engulfed by a well-developed village.

Description:

Cala Blanca is a modern (1990) purpose-built estate, extending N from its beach by an oval one-way system of roads. Private villas and apartments line the bleak esplanade, with coastal views towards Ciudadela. It is joined to the older and marginally more interesting holiday village of Santandria.

Suitability:

Bland atmosphere, satisfactory for undemanding quiet-seekers.

Accommodation:

Mainly in the middle and lower middle categories; predominance of self-catering.

Shopping:

Scattering of general tourist stores, with main concentration at Maribel commercial centre in Cala Blanca.

Beach:

Lovely, small coastal inlets of Cala Blanca and Santandria have fine, gently shelving sandy beaches protected by rocky sides.

Entertainments:

Daytime: minigolf, small water slides, beach. Nightlife: disco at Santandria; a few music bars, karaoke and British-theme pubs. Hotels organise occasional soirees.

Eating:

Fast-food restaurants and tourist diners with outside terraces; a couple of good fish restaurants.

Public-transport:

Hourly bus (daytime) between Cala'n Bosch, Ciudadela and Cala'n Forcat. Children's train around resort area.
