Position:
Straddling the coast road leading from Kassiopi to Sidari on the flat coastal plain backed by hills rising abruptly to the peak of Mt Pantokrator.

Description:
Growing beach resort with straggling main street and parallel lanes inland, following the beach. The terrain is flat but not ideal for the infirm as there are no pavements. More serious walkers might enjoy the stroll to Roda or strenuous hikes into the hills. Life is centred around the beach.

Suitability:
Families and couples looking for quiet beach holiday. Several bars and clubs entertain younger visitors.

Accommodation:
Villas, apartments and couple of small hotels. Unfortunately, many are on the inland side of the main road.

Shopping:
Several supermarkets, one chemist and a small shopping arcade only. A bank and many exchange facilities. Leather shop, beach goods but little else. Better shopping at Corfu Town.

Beach:
Two miles of sandy beach, gently shelving into the sea, liberally covered with large areas of pebble. Very safe for children. Water sports _ fun-rides, windsurfing and pedalloes, water-skiing and para-gliding.

Entertainments:
Daytime: centred around the beach. Nightlife: tavernas and bars. Two discos.

Eating:
Good selection of tavernas and restaurants, concentrated on the main road and at the beach.

Public-transport:
Taxis are available, and buses to Roda and Corfu Town four times a day via inland route; buses also along the coast to Sidari and Kassiopi. Car and scooter hire available.

Local-excursions:
Exploring rugged coast to E, or mountain villages such as Perithia. Corfu Town trip.
