Description:
An entirely purpose-built development in a picturesque setting. Descending on the main road through high hills, the hotels and apartments are reached by three separate minor roads, mostly unconnected to each other, on the beach front. Though tranquil by day, the resort bursts into life at night, with high-volume music and entertainment emanating from bars, restaurants and hotels.

Middle- to economy-market families and couples.
Accommodation:
A broad mixture of accommodation types. Hotels range from 3-star to vacation clubs; apartments from small beachfront family concerns to large impersonal blocks.
Shopping:
Small range of supermarkets, souvenir, leather, laundry, chemists and fashion shops. Commercial complex in resort centre. Hippy market on Sundays between El Greco and Presidente hotels. Car and motor scooter hire available.
Beach:
Much of the accommodation is grouped around three small bays with beaches of fine sand _ S'Arenal Grand, S'Arenal Petit and, at the N end of the resort, Es Port (aka Playa del Puerto). One contains a traditional fishermen's boathouse.
Entertainments:
Daytime: mainly provided in hotels. Otherwise various water sports, bowling alley, waterslide (open high season only), volleyball, walking. Nightlife: only one disco outside hotels. Occasional live bands. Sky TV.
Eating:
Some 14 restaurants, mainly tavernas, Spanish restaurants and fast-food eateries, plus roughly the same number of bars.
Public-transport:
Bus service to and from Ibiza town 5 times daily till early evening.
Local-excursions:
Island coach tour; glass-bottom boat trips. Country Feast. Hillbilly Hoe-down (Wild West Evening); Aquaman Splashdown (water park). Casino with show. Most tours organised by local hotels. Also "road train" with several destinations (7 days/evenings a week). Traditional Spanish dancing in St Miguel (Thursday nights).
