Location:
On N end of W coast, 24 miles NW of Corfu Town and airport. 6 miles SW of Sidari.
Telephone code from UK:

Position:
Between two headlands, built around horseshoe-shaped bay.
Description:
A secluded resort, off the beaten track, with a broad 1-mile beach set between spectacular headlands clad in olive and cypress trees. There is little in the way of village life or authentic local feel here, although there is still some evidence of grape production _ the area's original industry before tourism took over. In winter the population rests at under 100 people, but it can swell by up to 10 times this number in the height of summer. The resort lines the length of the beach, with a tiny straggle of buildings inland at the S end by the church. There is no real centre, as development has been haphazard, and certain areas and buildings are in a state of disrepair. On the plus side, the area has not (yet) been developed to the point of bursting and there is still an element of natural rural charm, as opposed to polished tourist perfection.
Suitability:
Independent travellers with own transport or those seeking peace and tranquillity, with a good beach thrown in. Not ideal for young families.
Accommodation:
Lower to mid-market apartments, small hotels and villas.
Shopping:
A few supermarkets. Jewellery workshop. Nearest chemist is in Sidari.
Beach:
Just under 1 miles of broad beach with coarse red-gold sand. The beach is gently shelving, but the swell can be quite strong when the wind is in the right direction, so it's not really suitable for young children. Some water sports available in high season including wind-surfing and canoeing. Beach fairly undeveloped; a few loungers, but little else.
Entertainments:
Daytime: beach and hotel pool. Nightlife: two discos. Choice of bars, either modern or traditional Greek. Bowling centre.

Tavernas with anglicised Greek food and British breakfasts.
Public-transport:
Limited. One or two cheap and reliable buses to Corfu Town per day.
Local-excursions:
By boat to Paleokastritsa; walking in the hills inland; day trip to Corfu Town.
