Position:
Surrounded by olive groves, reached by mile long narrow country lane off the main road. A parallel lane leads to the northern (Issos) beach.

Description:
Small beach resort with some haphazard recent development; good beaches but it has no old part or central nucleus.

Suitability:
Mainly young couples and families, but not for lively nightlife. Those looking for sunshine and uncrowded beaches; good for children as the swimming is safe and there is little road traffic.

Accommodation:
Studios, rooms, apartments and tavernas, and one hotel complex.

Shopping:
Just the basics; no bank but several money-changers.

Beach:
Two main ones separated by half a mile of the straggling main resort street; both wide and sandy with sunbeds and parasols; sand dunes by one of them. Very little shade.

Entertainments:
Daytime: snorkelling, para-gliding or, for something really off-beat, try mud-wrestling in a local clay pit! Nightlife: tavernas and two discos.

Eating:
A few tavernas.

Public-transport:
Bus in high season runs about 5 times daily to Corfu Town; twice daily in low season. More buses on main road (Kavos_Corfu). Some taxis available.

Local-excursions:
Car, jeep and moped hire. Trip to Corfu Town for shopping. Island tour; boat trip to Paxos Island. See also Corfu Town.
