Description:
After passing Ipsos and Pyrgi there is a dramatic change of scenery from the coastal strip to a winding road, leading up the slopes to the impressive setting of Barbati. Resort comprises apartments, tavernas and villas along mile on the uphill side of the main road, with beach well below. The coast road is not busy but can be dangerous due to sharp bends and lack of pavements.
Suitability:
Families; perhaps not a good choice for small children or the elderly. Nature lovers; those not requiring evening entertainment.
Accommodation:
A handful of self-catering apartments and mainly small hotels.
Shopping:
Souvenirs, minimarkets, money exchange and vehicle hire. Small choice.Nightlife: local tavernas with occasional Greek dancing.
Beach:
Long, white shingle beach; sheltered and safe but shelves quite steeply. Can be reached by foot or car; a rough track leads steeply down; 200 yards from the coast road. Water sports, pedalloes and dinghies available.
Entertainments:
Several tavernas.
Eating:
Regular bus to Corfu Town and Kassiopi, average 5 per day.
Public-transport:
Exploring dramatic coastline and mountains inland; daytrips to Corfu Town for sightseeing and shopping.

Towards the N end of the E coast, just as the island widens. 12 miles N of Corfu Town and the airport.
