Facing E across the water towards the main body of the island.
Description:
Lixouri was badly affected by the 1953 earthquake and consequently there are no old traditional buildings; the modern town architecture is not very inspiring. Outside town, the main road from Argostoli follows the coastline through the Thinia area known for its Thiniatiko red wine.

Shopping:
A few souvenir shops, but better shopping is to be had in Argostoli.
Beach:
Shingle, with no facilities. 1» miles S is Lepeda, which has a picturesque setting and fine sandy beach. The long red sand beach of Xi lies to the S and is virtually deserted apart from visiting boat trips from Lassi and Argostoli.
Entertainments:
Daytime: beach life and exploring by car. Nightlife: tavernas and bouzouki club.
Eating:
Tends to be cheaper than in the town of Argostoli with a variety of tavernas and restaurants. Lixouri is famous for its local ice cream.

Buses daily to Argostoli. The local ferry goes direct from Lixouri to Argostoli and takes approximately » hour.
