Position:
An open, rather bleak site at the base of distant volcanic hills. Joined to neighbouring Puerto del Carmen by unbroken development.

Description:
A purpose-built tourist destination with no real centre; development lines the coastal road.

Suitability:
Quieter, more relaxed than nearby Puerto del Carmen.

Accommodation:
Well-equipped, upmarket tourist hotels and a sizeable batch of middle-ranking apartments.

Shopping:
A couple of modern shopping centres and a scattering of general shops and boutiques.

Beach:
A broad expanse of moderately fine, fairly dark sand, shelving gently into the ocean. Generally flat and firm, often swept by brisk breezes. Not one of the better beaches.

Entertainments:
Daytime: water sports (good for windsurfing); tennis (mainly in hotel grounds). Nightlife: some, but more at Puerto del Carmen (1 mile).

Eating:
Small selection of restaurants and bars, from Lebanese to local cuisine, centred on Costa Mar development.

Public-transport:
Coastal bus service, Puerto del Carmen to Arrecife, every 20 minutes.
