Description:

Whitewashed Kefalos retains much rustic charm with its remaining castle walls and a white windmill with canvas sails, still in working order. Kamari is spread out along a beautiful bay with rocky headlands and tiny islets.

Suitability:

One of the quieter holiday venues on the island, not for ravers.

Accommodation:

Small hotels, in the cheap and cheerful category, together with the swish Club Med.

Shopping:

Limited; much more choice in Kos. Nightlife: bars with Greek music; disco.

Beach:

200 yards of mixed sand and shingle beach, equipped for sun lounging and water sports.

Entertainments:

Simple tavernas.

Eating:

Regular buses to Kos.

Public-transport:

Nearby beaches such as that known as Paradise are the best on the island. Otherwise, as per Kos.

Local-excursions:

At the SW end of the island, 24 miles SW of Kos. Airport 10 miles NE.
