Position:

The N part of the area is bordered by the S side of the airport and stretches along a white sandy bay to the cliffs of the W coast.

Description:

Until recent years a simple fishing village, Jimbaran's attractive beach is tucked into the W side of the S isthmus. Traditional boats anchor in the sheltered bay. Beautiful view of the sunset looking back up towards the mountains of central Bali. Covered by natural coconut palms and groves of bamboo plantation with very little tourism infrastructure until recently, hotels have brought development in.

Suitability:

For people who want to get away for it all, but within close range of Kuta and Nusa Dua for business, shopping or nightlife.

Accommodation:

Just a few 3- to 5-star hotels of good quality. Prices do not vary much through the year. Some places charge a supplement during Christmas, Easter, Chinese New Year and August. Service charge and government tax are usually added to hotel bills.

Shopping:

Not many shops in Jimbaran, but most hotels have a shuttle service to Kuta and Nusa Dua shopping areas.

Beach:

White sandy beach; gentle surf some days, offshore.

Entertainments:

Daytime: entertainment there are all kinds of water sports available at the hotels. Nightlife: many shows are organised by the tour agents or by the hotels themselves; occasionally local festivals.

Eating:

A very limited selection of restaurants adjacent to the hotels.

Public-transport:

No public transport, but taxis and shuttle services are available in the hotels.

Local-excursions:

Daytrips if not organised by the hotels, can be organised by tour agents. Also a motorbike-taxi service, commonly called "Ojek". About 4 miles S of Jimbaran is the temple of "Uluwatu", well-known for its magical position right at the cliff's edge and the tribe of monkeys that live there.
